Accelerating the region’s transition to Net Zero

The Borderlands Partnership has announced a call for projects for the Borderlands Inclusive Growth Deal’s Energy Investment Programme. The Energy Programme is an exciting opportunity to accelerate the region’s transition to net zero by strategically investing in projects that support carbon reduction, deliver local high-value jobs, support businesses and skills development, and are replicable in other areas of the Borderlands region.  

This Call for Projects aims to identify a shortlist of suitable projects to be further developed to unlock Borderlands funding. We are looking for projects that: 

• are large scale and capital in nature, seeking at least £1.5m of Borderlands funding; 

• align with the Borderlands Energy Investment Strategy; 

• are located in the Borderlands region which includes the Local Authority areas of Cumberland, Dumfries & Galloway, Northumberland, Scottish Borders and Westmorland & Furness; 

• will contribute to carbon reduction and job creation; 

• can demonstrate deliverability and be complete by December 2029.
