Northumberland Employability Network January Meeting
On 15 January, the network held its first online meeting of 2025 with 59 attendees.
Hannah and Billy from Barclays introduced Digital Wings and LifeSkills – training, skills and employment support, which is available to all, even those who aren’t Barclays customers! Whether you’re a beginner, or need to polish your skills, just create a free account to access the wealth of digital learning available.
We heard from Catherine, the Organisational Development and Culture Coordinator at Northumberland County Council who delivered a myth busting session around apprenticeships. It was great to showcase the paid training and development opportunities, which are available to all ages, for anyone interested in starting a career, or those looking to change sectors which apprenticeships offer.
Tom from Papyrus joined as a guest presenter to raise awareness of the prevention of suicide in young people and the promotion of positive mental health and emotional wellbeing, a crucial support service for all. As well as Hopeline 247, a service supporting people struggling with thoughts of suicide, debriefing with professionals, and helping concerned family/peers, they are delivering funded CPD-accredited training in February and are always looking for volunteers to deliver in local communities.
The collaboration opportunities initiated, and coordination of contact details and information sharing in the chat by so many organisations was brilliant to see and we can’t wait to hear success stories from the signposting and pathways created.
