Supporting the voluntary and community sector
The Northumberland Inclusive Economy Community Partnership has funded a diverse range of 30 projects across the South East of the county. The community-led and place-based programme is funded by the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund with the North East Combined Authority as the Lead Authority.
The partnership, which consists of stakeholders from the voluntary, community and social enterprise sector in Northumberland, considered applications from organisations that had developed projects offering impactful volunteering and social action projects to develop social and human capital.
A funding panel, made up of six members of the partnership, recommended projects for funding in March and April, which were then appraised by Northumberland County Council and offered grant funding agreements over the next couple of months.
The projects, which will run until the end of 2024, offer a wide range of interventions including the creative arts, sports and physical activity, outdoor and gardening, woodwork, mental health and wellbeing, digital skills, and heritage.
